My two choices were: 1. Since their educational discount is only for those in College, not highschool, have my brother buy it for me. The educational discount was $200 off, making it $1,799. With sales tax, which I would have to pay buying it directly from Apple, it would total $1,947. 2. Buy it off of Amazon. Base price was $1,999, then 1.5% off ($31) because of A9.com, and then a $150 rebate, which brought the total down to $1,819. Since Amazon is online and not right next to me, no sales tax. Yup, I checked into all of that. My two choices were:

But were you aware of apple's educational discounts? I'm not exactly sure how much it would have saved off of $1,999, but it's usually around a 7-10% savings from normal price.
